Director Bio

After graduating Cum Laude in Political Science from the University of California
at Santa Barbara, writer-director Steven List first pursued a career in journalism.
He worked for CNNʼs Political Unit, “Crossfire” and “Larry King Live,” in
Washington, D.C., and later in CNNʼs L.A. Bureau as a Field Producer.

After leaving news, List worked for a time in the documentary field, writing and/or
producing projects for Fox Television, Van Ness Films and A&E, among others.

Since getting into feature films, List has sold or optioned 8 scripts to major
studios and production companies (including Fox 2000, Phoenix Pictures, Village
Roadshow, and Paramount Pictures.) His original script, MISSION
INTOLERABLE, is being produced by Mike Karz (FIRST DAUGHTER, MALIBU’S
THE BROOM.) Another original script, ALIEN VACATION, is in active
development at Warner Bros.

Listʼs short film, SHIBUBU, won Best Picture and the Audience Award at New
Mexicoʼs “Flicks on 66” Digital Film Festival, and also gained him selection to
SearchLab – Fox Searchlightʼs prestigious directors mentoring program.

Only 40 participants per year were selected for Searchlab -from thousands of
applicants – in an effort to develop and showcase the work of the next generation
of top filmmakers. Listʼs Searchlab project, THE COLONY, was completed in
2008 and was officially selected for 14 international film festivals. THE COLONY

List is presently in pre-production on his feature directorial debut, THE
DARKNESS, a fact-based psychological thriller about a woman who discovers
she was used in CIA mind-control experiments as a child. Synopsis and trailer
